Solar eclipse of August 12

Dear Viasa members,

On August 12, 2026, the sky gifted us with one of the most impressive astronomical spectacles of the year: a total solar eclipse visible in several regions of the Northern Hemisphere.

Today we want to share with you the images captured by our colleague, VIA022 Piero Alviarez, who was fortunate enough to observe and photograph this unique phenomenon.

The photographs he sent us show in great detail the different phases of the eclipse, from the first contacts to the moments of greatest obscuration of the Sun. A visual record that allows us, even virtually, to feel a little closer to this very special event.

From Viasa Virtual Airlines, we want to congratulate Piero on these captures and thank him for sharing them with the entire community. Moments like this remind us that, beyond flights and logged hours, we are part of a family that also celebrates a passion for the sky and everything that happens in it.

You can see the images below.
